Dr. Dre Sues Death Row Records
The famed record label who suffered major losses and was bought by WIDEAwake last year, is now being sued by Dr. Dre. They “forgot about Dre” when they failed to pay royalties for “The Chronic” and also re-releasing the album without his permission… bad record label, BAD! Read the full report for Billboard HERE.

2010 Crossroads Festival Lineup Announced
Eric Clapton announced the third installment of his Crossroads Festival, taking place at Toyota Park in Chicago on June 26th. The all-star guitarist lineup includes the likes of Jeff Beck, BB King, Joao Gilberto, the Allman Brothers Band and many more.
Thom Yorke to Play in Support of the Green Party
Announced today on Radiohead’s ‘Dead Air Space’ website, Thom Yorke will play a “low key solo thing” on February 25th in Cambridge in support of a friend Tony Juniper, member of the UK Green Party. Thom said this of the performance, “Now normally i wouldn’t get involved in politics like this… but lets face it.. it aint labour or the tories is it?!? so..
and anyway he bought me a pint and twisted my arm. it’s a slippery slope i know.”

Lil Wayne Shoots NINE Videos in 48 Hours
As Weezy prepares for his delayed jail time, he cranked out nine videos in 48 hours with director David Rousseau. The videos were shot for tracks from his recent LP Rebirth as well as one track from the We Are Young Money compilation album, and one from the upcoming release, Tha Carter IV.
Rock on the Range Announce 2010 Lineup
The famed metal festival announced it’s 2010 lineup, which seems fitting enough to be a 2005 lineup as it features the best in Nu-Metal (remember when that was relevant?). Some artists include Godsmack, Rob Zombie, Limp Bizkit, Slash, Three Days Grace, Deftones and many more.

Broken Social Scene Announce New Album Due May 4
The BSS crew announced that they will be releasing an album (no title as of yet) on May 4. Due to the stardom of many of the band’s original members, the permanent lineup has been cut to Kevin Drew, Brendan Canning, Justin Peroff, Andrew Whiteman, Charles Spearin and will feature new members Sam Goldberg and vocalist Lisa Lobsinger. This does not mean past members will be cut entirely as the album will feature Feist, Amy Millan, Evan Cranley, Emily Haines, Jimmy Shaw, Jason Collett, Ohad Benchetrit, John Crossingham, Marty Kinack, Julie Penner and Leon Kingstone. The album will also feature non-BSS veterans like Spiral Stairs (Pavement), Sebastien Grainger (DFA 1979), Jason Tait (Weakerthans) and more.
Bonnaroo Lineup Announced!
The Manchester, TN festival, which takes place June 10-13 announced its 2010 lineup today throughout the day. Some of the top artists include The Flaming Lips, Weezer, Phoenix, Baroness, John Fogerty, the Black Keys, Wale, Neon Indian, the Avett Brothers, Jay-Z, LCD Soundsystem, Stevie Wonder, the xx and many more. Pete Wents and Craig Owens to Collaborate
It was obvious after numerous appearances and performances together that something was in the works, but it is now official, Pete Wents (Fall Out Boy) and Craig Owens (ex-Chiodos) will collaborate on a project. More information set to be announced later this month.
Propagandhi to Release Charity EP
Canadian punk rockers, Propagandhi announced they will release an EP March 10th, Supporting Caste (available digital only), to help raise funds for a Haiti charity. Lil Wayne to Start Prison Sentence… After Dental Surgery
Sentenced to a year in prison after pleading guilty to attempted gun ownership, Lil Wayne was expected to begin his prison term immediately. Due to dental surgery he cannot get during his sentence, he is now set to begin his service on March 2. He tells Rolling Stone, “This is Lil Wayne going to jail. Nobody can tell me what that’s like. I just say I’m looking forward to it.”

Radiohead Wrap Up Recording of New Album?
LA Times writer Jia-Rui Cook recently blogged about a wrap-up party in Hollywood held on 1/30 as a celebration for Radiohead completing the recording of their latest album. The band transformed a house in the Hollywood Hills into a recording facility, where they stayed for three weeks working with Nigel Godrich.

New Gorillaz Track Feat. Mos Def
The much anticipated return of Gorillaz will happen on stage at Coachella (headlining the final night, April 18th) and on record March 9th when their album, Plastic Beach, is released. “Stylo” is the first song to be released from the album, featuring Mos Def and Bobby Womack. New Viral Hit “Pants On the Ground” – Thanks American Idol?
American Idol has tried and failed many times at creating the pop superstars they claim to be searching for, but there is one thing they are good at and that’s finding the most outrageous characters, filming their performances, and allowing us to spread it around the web. It didn’t take long for the wonderful performance by 62-year-old “General” Larry Platt, who auditioned for American Idol regardless of being 34 years above the age limit, to make waves in the media world. Jimmy Fallon even performed a Neil Young-ish cover of this song. How long will this hit sensation last in a world where the old 15 minutes of fame has now become 1 minute snippets of YouTube fame?

NEW M.I.A. Song – “Space Odyssey” An Attack on the New York Times
“Space Odyssey,” produced by M.I.A. and Rusko was posted online earlier this week by M.I.A. via Twitter. The Fader quotes the Sri Lankan star’s publicist, “The song and video were made Monday night for $100, after the New York Times, as she says: ‘fucked up so hard.’ ” Earlier this week the New York Times published “The 31 Places to Go in 2010″ in which Sri Lanka topped the list. The song is likely to be featured in her much anticipated third release, set to hit shelves and pirate sites this year.

Jay Reatard Found Dead In His Home
Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr. [Jay Reatard] has passed away and was found dead in his home at 3:30 am this morning. Goner Records posted this statement on their website earlier this afternoon: “”It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our good friend Jay Reatard. Jay died in his sleep last night. We will pass along information about funeral arrangements when they are made public.”

Courtney Love’s Hole is Back – The Band…
Controversy has sparked over Courtney Love’s announcement of a new Hole album and tour. Here is a recent video showing Love and bandmates at her drug den. This reunion will not include original members Melissa Auf der Maur and Eric Erlandson in the line-up. Nobody’s Daughter, Love’s work-in-progress is set to be released in 2010, but it is not known whether it will be a Hole or Courtney Love album. The irony is that the album name was announced much earlier than Courtney Love losing legal control of daughter Frances Bean Cobain, which includes a restraining order… Nobody’s Daughter?

Soundgarden Reunion?
Chris Cornell announced via Twitter at midnight on January 1st Soundgarden will reunite. “The 12 year break is over & school is back in session. Sign up now. Knights of the Soundtable ride again! www.soundgardenworld.com” They will likely tour the festival circuit around the UK and North America this summer, but don’t expect a new album any time soon.
Facebook Group Helps Rage Against the Machine Reach #1 in UK Charts!
Music fans in the UK frustrated with manufactured pop music from X-Factor took a stance and started a grassroots Facebook group to help Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing In the Name Of” reach #1 on sales charts on Christmas. Through this stunt, they sold 500,000 digital copies of the song, beating X-Factor winner, Joe McEdlerry by 50,000. The band [RATM] will play a free show in the UK this year as a tribute to this act of revolt against the industry. Proceeds made were donated to a homeless charity, SHELTER, raising over £80,000.
